First Sign Language Interpreters' Evaluation by Deaf Students

March 1: Six Sign Language Interpreters for the school year 2011-2012 were evaluated by Deaf students and their Peers for the first time. The result of these evaluations will provide effective feedback as to their strengths and areas for improvement of the service that they provide in our institution.

The Performance Tools were made through the combined effort and discussion among SLIs from the year 2010 till 2011. The draft were then submitted to the Principal who in turn provided some editing and suggestions as to how the three performance tools will be different from each other depending upon on who will be evaluating the SLI. The 6 SLis were then evaluated by 97% of the total population of Deaf students enrolled in ANHS and we thank you all dear students for participating in this historical event.

Currently SLIs who want to be employed at LSGH ANHS have to provide attendance of Sign Language courses/certificates, teaching license, Special Education units/background and should pass the screening process by the PDL staff and Deaf students.
