Parent-Deaf Child Encounter 2011

   This annual session aims to guide parents of deaf / hard of hearing children to thrive in a predictable environment. Routines and schedules carried out with consistency provide stability and security. This is also true with parenting behavior – consistent messages and consistent, reasonable consequences result in a child who trusts his/her parents. And it can be especially important for some deaf / hard of hearing children who have limited communication skills. The objectives of this session:
  1. To identify strategies for enhancing the parent/child relationship and raising self-disciplined and responsible adults;
  2. To help parents organize a plan to communicate with each other that will give them access to information;
  3. To sort out some issues and concerns so as to come up with a feasible advice as answers to different home situations arise.
